About Fred Fahey
Aerial Services

Celebrating 40 Years

Commenced operations in July 1978

Fred Fahey Aerial Services proudly support the strong agricultural industry in the Central West of NSW. Since commencing operations in 1978, Fred has grown his fleet from a single piston engined plane carrying 500kg to a fleet of 9 turbine and piston aircraft carrying up to 3000kg.
Born in Boorowa, now local to Cowra, Fred and Coleen have made it a lifelong commitment to provide affordable aerial application solutions to the area.

What we do

Agricultural operations

FFAS apply all conventional and organic products that have been registered for aerial application. Over the years we have grown and now service a diverse range of terrain and farm types covering a large part of NSW, from large broad acre spraying to topdressing hill country. Our highly trained pilots are committed to delivering a professional and safe service for all of our clients.

Fire Fighting Since the 1980's

FFAS have been involved with aerial fire fighting since the 1980’s. We started on a voluntary basis working for our superphosphate spreading clients in the hill country whenever an emergency arose, initially using our small spray aircraft. FFAS are now contracted to the government as a core part of fire control efforts until 2024.

Aerial Application Association of Australia

FFAS is a member of the Aerial Application Association of Australia (AAAA) and was one of the first companies to receive the Aerial Improvement Management System (AIMS) accreditation. AIMS is an independently audited specialised safety management system, risk management system, and a quality assurance program that ensures we meet and exceed all requirements of regulators, clients and the wider community.

Integrated Management Systems

FFAS’s management system exceeds AAAA’s AIMS program. Systematic regulatory compliance minimises risk to FFAS and to our clients. AIMS has recently been reviewed by CASA CEO Shane Carmody and found to “provide a safety management system that exceeds current regulatory requirements for the aerial application industry” CASA_Ref:F17/554.

Spray Safe Accredited

Operation Spray Safe is a AAAA initiative requiring operators to meet stringent standards establishing increased professionalism and a framework for continuing improvement. We take pride in our work. Supported by our meticulously maintained aircraft and support equipment we aim to operate well above industry best practice. We are committed to providing a consistent high quality, professional service through our dedicated team of highly trained permanent pilots and ground crew.

Protecting Our Community

First Fire Fighting Contract in 2000

Our firebombing fleet now consists of two Air Tractor 802’s dedicated solely to fire, and one Air Tractor 602 that is utilised for both fire and agriculture.
In 2000 our engineering team designed and built advanced fire-fighting retardant delivery systems to meet the scrupulous requirements of the RFS. We have been servicing the RFS above and beyond requirements since. As retardant delivery technology has improved FFAS have remained pioneers in the industry and in partnership with Trotter Controls we are premiering the first two GEN 3 FRDS in 2019. These electric powered aluminium fire gates are significantly lighter. Advanced computers provide uniform delivery from the start of the drop to the finish.
